Our Founder, Marshaun Barber is the Executive Director at Reclaiming Our Greatness (ROG). ROG aims to provide culturally appropriate support to communities of color who are experiencing housing and food insecurity, and need assistance navigating healthcare, education, and justice systems. ROG strives to compassionately serve high barrier and high needs communities of color who are often shut out of traditional access points. Prior to starting to Reclaiming Our Greatness, Marshaun worked at All Seattle Kids home; an organization that worked with school aged children, unaccompanied minors, and their families at imminent risk of homelessness in King County, WA.
Prior to her Executive Director roles, Marshaun was a civil legal aid attorney for 3 years at TeamChild where she connected with community and provided child advocacy for young people in practice areas such as: school discipline, special education, and family law. Populations near and dear to her heart include youth of color with juvenile justice involvement, students experiencing school to prison pipeline pushout, and families struggling to advocate for their children in the school setting. Ms. Barber continues to create opportunities to talk about social justice issues with community members, partners, and child welfare professionals. She also sits on the Loren Miller Judicial Evaluation Committee and continues to support and mentor new attorneys of color in civil legal aid practice.
